Abstract
Oviposition aggregation pheromones occur in a range of insect groups including Diptera, where they mediate oviposition in four different families of disease vectors. In this paper, Philip McCall and Mary Cameron discuss the selection pressures favouring oviposition pheromones and speculate on their potential applications in disease monitoring and control.
