Abstract

Scabies, an infectious skin condition caused by the Sarcoptes scabiei mite, affects approximately 200 million people worldwide.1 Scabies accounts globally for 0.21% of all disability-adjusted life years, which is disproportionally borne by children and older adults.1 Scabies infestation is characterized by intense itching and sleep disturbance, and can significantly impair affected individuals’ quality of life.2
