Abstract

Summary - The similarity in the methods of division in the vertebrate host and site of development in the flea of the trypanosomes of rodents of the subfamily Murinae (T. /ewisi, T. grosi and T. musculi) on the one hand and those of the subfamily Microtinae (T. microti, T. evotomys) on the other is noted.
Division forms of the trypanosomes appear in the peripheral blood of the hosts if the trypanosome reproduces in the epimastigote stage. In those species whose dividing forms are amastigote, dividing forms are found only in the tissues not in the peripheral blood.
