Abstract

This paper reports the development of a reasonably low-cost free electron maser (FEM) as a source of tuneable, focused microwave power for industrial applications. In this paper the principle of operation and general system set-up will be presented. To date the FEM is operating at a power level that has allowed us to perform experiments with low-pressure plasmas in UV lamps.
