Biography

Zoe Johnston is a Trial Manager in the Global Health Trials Unit at Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM). She has experience in both global health and UK studies and academic-led multi-site clinical trials, including Clinical Trials of Investigational Medicinal Products and Non-Clinical Trials of an Investigational Medicinal Products. Zoe is a member of the LSTM Research Ethics Committee, with a background in biomedical sciences and NHS research administration and patient-facing roles. She currently works on projects spanning multimorbidity management, snakebite treatment, and dengue fever with global partners in Malawi, Tanzania, Ghana, Brazil, Malaysia, and Vietnam.
Zoe is responsible for the management of studies according to International Council for Harmonisation of Technical Requirements for Pharmaceuticals for Human Use Good Clinical Practice – from set-up to close-down. This includes producing and maintaining trial master files, ensuring ethics and regulatory approvals are in place, arranging oversight committee meetings, preparing and updating trial documentation including protocols, patient information sheets, informed consent forms, and study-specific training materials. She works closely with Chief/Principal Investigators, Data Managers, Trial Statisticians, Programme Managers and other relevant stakeholders – actively monitoring progress at trial sites and centrally monitoring using the REDCap clinical data collection tool.
