Biography

Tyler Walker joined Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) spinout company iiDiagnostics in July 2023 as a member of the Liverpool Insect Testing Establishment team. As a Research Technician, his duties include rearing and maintaining mosquito colonies and subsequently performing bioassays to test insecticides and insect repellents for commercial partners. He is fully trained in several World Health Organisation bioassays and well versed in performing tube, cone and tarsal tests to Good Laboratory Practice standards.
In 2022 Tyler graduated with a first-class Integrated Masters (MSci) in Biomedicine from Lancaster University. In his third year his dissertation project investigated the relationship between insulin signalling and lifespan in Drosophila melanogaster and he co-authored a publication in Frontiers of Neuroscience. Following graduation, he worked as a Medical Laboratory Assistant in the Cellular Pathology department at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital before joining LSTM.
