Timothy Garner is a Programme Manager in the Emergency Obstetric & Quality of Care Unit, part of the Department for International Public Health at Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM). He works closely with Professor Charles Ameh and the team to manage a portfolio of implementation research projects aimed at strengthening health systems for women and babies.
Timothy first came to LSTM as a student on the Diploma in Humanitarian Assistance course in 2010. He started working for LSTM in 2015, as a Programme Officer in the Centre for Maternal & Newborn Health, contributing to the delivery of a variety of projects and working with the business development team to develop new funding proposals. In 2019, he moved to the Centre for Neglected Tropical Diseases and worked as part of a specialised team focused on building capacity of drug supply chains in West & Central Africa.
Outside of LSTM, Timothy has extensive operational experience in humanitarian emergency and development settings, most recently for the International NGO Safety Organisation in Nigeria and the HALO Trust in Somalia and Cambodia.
Timothy received a Professional Development Award in Supporting Learning from the Staff and Educational Development Association in 2021.
Timothy's main interests are maternal and newborn health, health system strengthening, capacity building, and supply chain.
