Biography

Ravi Lad joined Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) in August 2023 as a Trial Coordinator in the Global Health Trial Unit working originally on the BabyGel study that evaluated the effectiveness of household alcohol-based handrub for the prevention of sepsis, diarrhoea and pneumonia in Ugandan infants. Ravi is now working on studies to develop a lateral flow test to detect Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever, promote arboviral research, and improve bereavement care.
Ravi gained a BSc (Hons) in Medical Biochemistry from The University of Manchester in 2021 and completed an MSc in Pharmacology and Drug Development at Hull York Medical School in 2022. Ravi then joined a clinical research organisation working as an Associate Study Manager before moving to LSTM where he is currently managing national and international studies and supporting other studies across Low- and Middle-Income Countries and the UK at the Global Health Trials Unit.

Ravi's reasearch focuses on Infectious Diseases, Maternal and Newborn Health, and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene.
