Biography

Lana Whittaker is a Post-Doctoral Research Associate at Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM). Her disciplinary background is geography, and she obtained her BA, MPhil and PhD from the University of Cambridge. Lana’s PhD thesis examined the realisation of the right to food in India and focussed specifically on India’s school feeding programme, the Midday Meal Scheme. Prior to joining LSTM, Lana was a post-doctoral research associate in the Global Development Institute at the University of Manchester, where she worked on an impact evaluation of a livelihood intervention in Nepal.

Research interests

Lana’s research focusses broadly on inequality and the interventions and policies that seek to address inequities, particularly in South Asia. At LSTM, Lana is a Post-Doctoral Research Associate, working in the GCRF Accountability and Responsiveness in Informal Settlements for Equity hub.
