Biography
Following a prior career in event management, Kelly Convey has been with Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) since 2016. Over the past nine years, she has played a significant role in supporting the successful delivery of research studies and clinical trials.
Kelly’s journey began with the Liverpool Vaccine Group, where she initially supported Programme Management by handling administrative duties, including travel and logistics for senior team members, managing financial aspects, and organising national and international conferences, workshops, and events.
She later transitioned to a research facilitation role at the Accelerator Research Clinic, providing daily office support to the clinical team and assisting with trial management duties. Kelly was responsible for managing correspondence and calls on behalf of the respiratory team, overseeing purchasing and financial duties, and coordinating daily and weekly planning for the administrative functions related to clinical studies. In this role, she worked closely with senior nurses and study leads to ensure the smooth running of the clinical office. Kelly’s responsibilities also included processing trial amendments, overseeing trial master files, and coordinating oversight meetings. One of her key achievements was being among the top recruiters of participants for clinical studies, demonstrating her ability to engage participants and implement systems that supported the effective induction and retention of study participants. Kelly also took the initiative to introduce new procedures into the administrative function and played a key role in training new team members. Her contributions were especially valuable during COVID-related studies, where she helped ensure the efficient continuation of operations during a challenging period.
Currently, Kelly serves as Programme Coordinator at the Centre for Snakebite Research and Interventions at LSTM. In this role, she provides essential programme management and administrative support to the centre and the Research Hub Programme, ensuring the successful delivery of new programmes aimed at advancing global health solutions for snakebite-related issues. Kelly’s work supports the team’s mission to drive research and innovation that can have a meaningful impact on snakebite prevention and treatment.
With extensive experience in supporting clinical trials and research projects, Kelly is committed to contributing to the advancement of global health, particularly in the areas of infectious diseases and neglected tropical diseases.
