Biography

Elizabeth Crawford is a Business Development Manager for the Infection Innovation Consortium (iiCON). Her role is to support companies working with the consortium to engage with the platforms and develop individual projects, and to work with platform leads to enhance and expand the technology offerings so the platform can expand its support in the future.
She has a degree in pharmacology and a PhD in biochemistry and has spent her professional career working at the interface of industry and academia. She worked commercialising research at the University of Manchester Intellectual Property (now known as the Innovation Factory) for nine years – being involved in licensing and spin-out creation across the life sciences – with a number of companies successfully raising finance and products reaching the market. She was also a founding director of a University of Manchester spin-out company for six years and was responsible for the business development activities including securing partnerships with pharmaceutical companies, fundraising and developing and implementing regulatory and IP strategy.
