Biography

Denise Wellings joined Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) in 2014 and moved to Liverpool Insect Testing Environment in 2018 as a Research Technician, before becoming a Study Director in 2022.
Working in the Liverpool Insect Testing Environment Good Laboratory Practice facility Denise has extensive knowledge and experience of a range of World Health Organisation and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention bioassay techniques, study development, and the execution of protocols. As a project manager in the Liverpool Insect Testing Environment she has a wealth of experience in running studies relating to insecticide-treated bednet regeneration and washability and high-performance liquid chromatography analysis.
Denise is also interested in public engagement with a focus on visiting schools in the local area highlighting the range of work that LSTM are involved in and explaining the range of careers that are available in STEM with the aim of increasing the aspirations of children who live in the area.
Prior to joining LSTM, she worked in Quality Systems Development and Management, Youth Involvement, and Project Administration.

Research interests

Denise's main areas of interest are the development of new vector control tools and the control of vector borne diseases.
