Biography
Clio Whitby is a Programme Officer in the Health Systems and Workforce Strengthening Unit of the Department for International Public Health at Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM). She works with institutions across Europe, Africa and Asia providing logistical, financial, contractual and administrative support to a range of research projects. Her current programmes (ReBUILD for Resilience and REACT) are focused on working with organisations in Sierra Leone, Zimbabwe, Lebanon, Nepal and Myanmar to explore ways to build resilience in fragile healthcare systems in settings vulnerable to shocks such as civil and military conflicts, natural disasters, economic crises and the climate crisis.
She has been with LSTM since 2018 and has previously worked extensively with partners in Kenya, Burkina Faso, Malawi, Tanzania, Uganda and DR Congo on projects looking at improving emergency obstetric care, monitoring the safety of antimalarials on pregnant women and newborns and the provision of care for non-communicable diseases.
