Biography

Dr Becky Jones-Phillips directs the Enterprise and Innovation group at Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) whose primary focus is the rapid acceleration of translational research through the innovation pipeline, deploying new interventions to market and patient benefit. The Enterprise and Innovation group lead strategic partnerships with innovation ecosystem stakeholders, developing commercial strategy for LSTM-led innovations. Central to this is strengthening innovation capacity in low- and middle-income countries, particularly in areas such as clinical trials capability, manufacturing, and regulatory frameworks, all of which are critical bottlenecks in the innovation journey of any new product.

Becky has an academic and commercial background, having completed her PhD and postdoctoral experience in immunoparasitology, before moving into the commercial diagnostics sector.

Research interests

Becky is principal investigator on the Research England FLIGHT and SIGHT programmes which focus on delivering new frameworks for innovation excellence in global health research. She is co-investigator on several programs across LSTM’s translational research portfolio, where she delivers the implementation and market shaping strategy for new LSTM-led public health interventions.
